Franklin’s Rustic Woodland Nursery

June 29, 2016

We didn’t find out the gender of our baby (it’s a boy!) which meant I wasn’t able to do anything for his room ahead of time. I could have done a more gender neutral theme, but I really wanted two separate looks depending on what we had, so I waited. And finally, after about six months, it is complete!

Since my husband is an arborist, I chose a rustic woodland theme for Franklin’s room to honor this part of our lives. So, here it is! And I have included the sources for everything below. I hope you enjoy!

  1. I just LOVE it!!! I never did get our nursery blogged… and it has changed so many times since then! Oops! We stuck to gender neutral (boy/girl twins), but I’m so looking forward to going all out on a boy room and a girl room when we separate them. I love how personal and meaningful this room is to your family, and to think you did the bulk with a newborn… wow!

    1. Thank you, thank you, Katie! Hahaha that is how I was with my first two babies! Whoops! I also haven’t even gotten my daughter’s current room blogged. I suppose I should get on that! So Appreciate your kind words!

  2. It is absolutely perfect! I love all the DIY touches…especially the wood wall and the hanging shelves. It is such a great nursery, and will transition so well to a little boys room. I love how you got everything in all different places…I do that too.

    1. That was a main goal of mine! I wanted a nursery that didn’t have to be completely re-done later down the road as he got older. I appreciate your kind words!

  3. Love everything!! Shelves and those curtains!! Do you know if they still have them on way fair? I tried searching everywhere on their site with no luck. Or what they are called I love them!

    1. Hi Kenzie! Yes, I just searched again for them and they are called Swiss Cross Curtain Panels and they come with a set of two. They ARE sheer, so if you want them to be darker, I suggest putting cheap blackout panels behind them. That is what I did!

  4. Oh wow this is beautiful!! You did an amazing job. I was trying to pick one thing to mention, but I love it all!!
Thanks for sharing at #MMBH. I’ve pinned to our MMBH board. 🙂

  5. So many fun touches in his nursery! I have boy girl twins that have a loosely themed woodland room going on, also. I’m dying to know about that bench custom made from California. Do you have a source? Was it a friend, or a specific shop? I would love to know!

  6. I love this nursery! I would love to make the shelves for our little guy’s nursery. Do you have DIY instructions? Thanks!!!
