I have been struggling with how to see in the dark while nursing each and every night since we have been home. I find I get better sleep when I don’t have to get up and nurse Cal in the living room, which I believe I did throughout Gwyn’s infancy.
So, I have Cal’s little bed scooted up to the side of our bed and I am able to reach over and grab him when he starts to stir. I don’t turn on the overhead light, or even my bedside lamp so that I don’t disturb Calvin and The Hubby, so I am left in the dark. And really, those other options are just too bright.
I first tried holding up the little light on this little Itzbeen gadget that I have. Well, I found myself having to hold it in-between my teeth from the little belt clip to actually see with it since I needed both hands. And every time I’d yawn it’d fall out. In fear of it hitting Cal, my mouth would quiver trying to hold it in.
So…. fail.
My next attempt was using a little mini flashlight. This was definitely an improvement as it was easier to hold, but I still found that I needed both of my hands to nurse, so, yep… that too went in my mouth. Yes, that was easier to hold in there, but after a few nights of this, my neck started to get sore and so did my cheeks!
So….. fail!
“There must be a better solution!” I scoured the internet. There is only one product out there even remotely close to solving my problem, but even with that I am skeptical. I did buy it in desperation. It has yet to arrive though.
So, a few nights ago The Hubby saw me struggling and had the most brilliant, genius, you-could-make-millions-on-this idea EVER!
He gave me a hat.
Not just ANY hat though.
He gave me his hat that has two mini lights on the bill of it.
GENIUS!!!!!
This hat is my dream come true. It provides the perfect amount of light, especially if I look just beyond the little man. It has a soft glow that doesn’t bother his eyes and doesn’t strain my neck to hold… because it’s (obviously) HANDS FREE!!!
Why is there nothing like this on the market for nursing moms!? You put “baby” on any product and you are a millionaire!
Sure, I look absolutely ridiculous…..
I’m serious… this could be something big here… they could come in different styles… maybe a rimmed beanie for the cold nights and some sort of headband/visor for those summer nights… OOoo the wheels are turning….
If you too are struggling like I was, this is your answer. Go get one of these hats!
