Hello, friends!
As I have been sharing over the past week, we finally decided to do something about our catch-all room; the one that you first saw when you entered our house, and the one I tried turning our guests’ eyes away from upon entering.
So, I drew up some plans and we got to work on transforming this room. If you missed the behind-the-scenes post where I documented the process, go HERE.
The biggest part of the transformation is our DIY lockers, and I shared all about that HERE if you missed that, too.
But there was a second half of the room that also needed some attention, so we decided to put together a semi-DIY desk by using butcherblock from Home Depot, and THESE drawers. We needed to alter the drawers to make it work for us by taking off the top that came with them, as well as the little feet, but doing those two things made it the right height for us. (You can see more of how we worked with these in my Instagram highlights HERE under Mudroom 2 and Mudroom 3.)
And I just LOVE how it turned out! I stained the butcher block the same as the butcher block on the lockers, and we attached it to the top of the drawers by using the same preexisting holes from the tops of the drawers that we didn’t use and by drilling holes into the bottom of the butcherblock and lining them up.
I also made sure to choose drawers that didn’t have any hardware so that I could put my own hardware on it, and I chose the same pulls that are on our lockers to tie it all in. I think these pulls make it look much fancier!
Once the desk was complete, I still felt like it was missing a little something, so at the last minute we built these floating shelves and I think it completed the look.
I hunted and hunted for the right stools, and I could not love these ones any more than I do! They are the perfect camel color and the right size for our space.
This whole room is finally so functional for us and we have SO much more storage, which just speaks to my heart! This room is now one we gravitate to and I find myself just sitting in here often!

So, that is it! Our mudroom makeover. Overall, it took us about three weeks, and while we had some ups and downs during the whole process, it was so completely worth it and we couldn’t be happier!
As always, thanks for stopping by!
