Farm Chicks 2018 is COMING! And My Favorites From Years Past

May 31, 2018

My absolute favorite shopping weekend of the ENTIRE YEAR is happening this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited! The event is called The Farm Chicks and it happens in Spokane, WA every year during the first weekend in June.

The Farm Chicks is a vintage and handmade fair where hundreds of vendors from all over the country come to sell their beautiful and unique goods and that is exactly what I love about it. You can find one-of-a-kind items you wouldn’t be able to in stores that are sure to be conversation pieces in your home.

And that is exactly how I like to decorate. I love when pieces tell a story and have a little history behind them, so this event is right up my alley.

Today I thought I would show you some of the pieces I have gotten over the years and how I have used them in our home.

When designing our oldest son’s room, I knew I wanted a vintage sports theme, but I didn’t have a color scheme until I found the set of lockers in the right corner there. Orange isn’t normally a color I am drawn to decorate with, but in this room, it just worked with the vintage basketball and framed prints above the bed I already had, so it was a must-have-at-first-site.

One of my favorite booths at the show belongs to a couple of men that create these beautiful benches out of vintage crates and scrap metal, and we keep our son’s favorite books in these crates.

I found this chandelier a few years back at the show and I so wish I knew the story behind it! I just loved it so much and was so happy to have found a good spot for it in our daughter’s room.

A couple of years ago, as I was nearly ready to leave The Farm Chicks show, I stumbled upon this incredible vintage mail sorting piece. I stopped dead in my tracks and was in absolute awe. But where would I put it?! What would I do with it?! It didn’t matter. It had to come home with me.

Luckily, we had an empty wall in our home and before I knew it we had a new place to store art and craft supplies.

Last year, I found this small white cabinet and knew it would fit perfectly under our window, and we store our photobooks in it.

Also last year, I was on the hunt for some front porch decor, and since The Farm Chicks show is always crawling with it, it didn’t take me long to transform this space.

I picked up the dresser, the hanging planter, the crock, the black metal gate, the black frame and the black metal side table. And actually, that other white planter in the front was purchased by my mom a few years back, and I may have somehow brought it to our home.

I left for Farm Chicks with a front porch that only had two chairs on it, and came home with a complete space.

This year, I am on the hunt for a little desk for our guest room, something to organize all of our hot tub items to be stored under the deck in, and something else to store my husband’s grill items in on the back deck.

And, since the space by the window in our bedroom has remained empty for about three years now, I am hopeful I will finally find the perfect something for that spot, too!

I can’t stress enough how amazing The Farm Chicks antique show is, and I hope to see you all there! Please come say hello if you do!
