Shopping Local with Charli Iris (discount code!) for Gwyn’s First Day of First Grade

September 8, 2016

Our Sweet Gwyn started the first grade this week, and boy did I have mixed feelings about this day! In our district, Kindergarten is still half-day, so this year marks our first of being in school full-day. While I am pumped for our little girl to be experiencing new and exciting things, it also makes me a little sad. I mean, we are 1/3 of the way finished parenting (while in our household) this little girl. ONE FREAKING THIRD! And while there are days where I am sure I will be more happy than not that she is at school, it just hit me pretty hard recently that my days are numbered. image3

The first day of school is a pretty exciting day for us around here. Picking out a new lunchbox and school supplies, getting a hair-cut, laying out the backpack, packing our first official eat-at-school lunch, and reading a special book before bed; it’s all just so much fun for us all. But the thing Gwyn was most excited  for was her first-day-of-school outfit. And if I am being honest, I was just as excited about it, too!

Kelley of Charlie Iris made this dress specially for Gwyn’s first day incorporating all of our favorite elements; floral, lace, pockets and the ability to twirl.

When I first came across Kelley’s dresses, I immediately needed to pick my jaw up off the ground as every single one completely caught my eye. I knew right then and there that Gwyn needed one of these dresses for her first day. The attention to detail in every dress is what makes these unique; one of my favorites being the lace backing on this dress.

Gwyn and I also both LOVE the giant pockets incorporated into every dress. Gwyn loves to put little things in her pockets throughout the day and I totally see her filling these up.

Because Fall is upon us, these dresses pair perfectly with leggings and a sweater or jacket. I ordered Gwyn’s dress big enough to be enjoyed in these upcoming cooler months, as well as when the weather turns warmer next year. And because it looks darling with or without leggings, I truly see Gwyn being able to wear this dress for years to come.

I mean. Really? Really. It’s that cute!

I am very much into floral right now and combined with the little ruffle detail at the waist, I was just about done in. In fact, I would like one in my size, please!

Receiving such a pretty dress made Gwyn that much more excited for her first day of school as she was finally able to wear it, and boy, did she feel special.

And for those who love to twirl, this dress does in fact, twirl.
