A Graduation Party for the Older Grad

June 18, 2014

As I have shared, The Hubby graduated recently with his PhD in finance and we are all just so proud of the guy. So proud, in fact, that one of The Hubby’s best friends wanted to throw him a party for he and all the ol’ buddies back home while we are in town visiting in addition to the party we had for him at home.  We coordinated and decided he would be in charge of the food (he makes THE BEST Hawaiian food I have ever had and cooked up a FEAST!) and I was in charge of the sweets and decor.

It’s not easy coming up with a grad party that isn’t decorated with fake diplomas, grad hats, school colors and baby photos. I wanted the decor to be on the sophisticated side and something that wouldn’t embarrass him.

So I included some of his favorite treats, added in some vintage book decor and this is what I came up with.

Vendors:

Outside the Box Papers– Rustic tin blackboard and wood stand, number embellishments, vintage pins, chevron straws, numbered clothespins, glassine treat bags, chevron favor bags, and black pennant banner

Kim and Julie from Outside the Box Papers are such great vendors! They ship quickly, have a ton of options to choose from on their Etsy shop AND website and are just the sweetest!

Isabele’s Bakery-Vintage Book Cake- The Hubby loves lemon raspberry and this shop did a fantastic job in making the cake not only taste fantastic, but it came out looking exactly as I had hoped!

  1. I LOVE that bookpage tablecloth! And those little chalkboards are adorable! I want to get some. 🙂

  2. I’d like some of those chalkboards to write biblical quotes on, love them! And the party looked so good! How’d you do the garland?
