Favorite Things Friday: Doable Valentine's Day Desserts

January 10, 2014

Valentine’s Day is just over a month away which means I start to think about yummy, decadent desserts. For the past few years I have made The Hubby something special for this day and I like trying things I don’t normally make. So, I scoured Pinterest for some ideas for this year and found some that actually seemed doable. Which one is your favorite?

Chocolate Chip Almond Torte

I like almond and I like chocolate. This could do it for me. Plus I love making things that look pretty on cake stands. Because I love cake stands. If I had more room to store them I would buy lots and lots of cake stands.

S’mores

This seems like it would be a really cute, fun and interactive dessert idea! While our fireplace is enclosed, I am sure we could roast the ‘mallows over one of those Sterno flame candles? No?

Frozen Hot Chocolate

I have been yearning to go to Serendipity in New York and try one of their infamous frozen hot chocolates with my sweetie for quite a while now. Since it isn’t going to happen in our near future, what about making a knockoff recipe at home? I am loving this idea!

Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries

The Comfort of Cooking » Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries
Stuffed strawberries are SO easy to make and look so elegant! I tried making these for the first time while at the coast for the 4th of July last year and they turned out wonderfully! Plus, you almost don’t feel too bad eating a plethora of these because they’re mostly fruit…right?

Fudge Sundae in a Cookie Bowl

fudge sundae in a cookie bowl - 1. get a cupcake pan and fip it upside down. butter the mounds. put cookie dough over each mound and bake. take out and let cool before removing. remove cookies. you now have cookie owls! fill with ice cream and enjoy!

Our whole family would LOVE these! Who am I kidding, our whole family would love any of these desserts, but how fun would it be to make family sundaes in cookie bowls? Valentine’s Day sprinkles? The link didn’t provide direct instructions, so I included what was under the picture.

Last year I made this:

Heath Brownie Trifle

We love brownies, we love Heath and we love homemade whip and we polished off about half of this in one sitting. Just the two of us. Didn’t feel great after that, but it was good! I kind-of just threw it together (as that’s the beauty of a trifle!) but found a similar recipe here.
I am not sure which one I am going to do yet, but I will let you know! Do you have a favorite dessert idea I should consider?
Thanks for stopping by!
