On Turning 28…

January 3, 2013

Last month I turned twenty-eight.
And to start the morning off, a dear friend of mine brought some Starbucks breakfast. The PERFECT way to start off the day. A little latte and Cranberry Bliss Bar never hurt anyone.
Since my birthday falls so closely to Christmas, I decided this day was a good one to get our Christmas cards done. That, and we were kindof tired of sleeping without a sheet and having the Christmas lights strung over our headboard.

While it was pretty dang hard keeping two kids still and ON the bed, we got it done. There may have been candy cane bribery involved, too. Dangle a piece of candy cane in front of my toddler and she will say cheese as many times as you want. No joke.

Next came lunch.
 I fed my baby Cal…

I fed my little reindeer…

And I think I ate the reindeer’s scraps.
I then thought I’d get out of the house for a bit and we went to a local consignment store that tends to sell things on the nicer side. Well, after Gwyn wanted to sit in every chair and touch every doll, we quickly exited that store. This picture says it all… she was just a blur in there…
So instead, we enjoyed a nice coffee break next door. Yep. More coffee.
I almost ordered Gwyn a hot chocolate. I then quickly took that order back as it was close to naptime and that sugary drink before nap probably would have slapped me in the face.
So instead she got “milk flavored coffee.” -Steamed milk.
We took a little walk downtown

And then once home I had a bit of cleaning to do. So while I vacuumed, Cal cried in the kitchen and Gwyn hid in her bedroom.

After doing completely nothing during naptime, which was awesome, the kids and I just played until The Hubby came home from work, handed me a $20 and told me to go get a cup of coffee.

Well, being that I already had two coffees that day, I tried to tell him that I was a-okay on the coffee, but he insisted that I get out of the house.

Not looking back, I took him up on the offer and got outta there. Instead of coffee, though, I somehow ended up at Wal-mart looking at their dishes. I have wanted some white coffee mugs for a while now and they not only had what I was looking for, but they also had a whole white dish set with all sorts of prettiness. I’ve never purchased dishware from Walmart before but considered this quite the find!

I bet you know where that $20 went toward!

I then got a call from The Hubby to head on home.

Drats.

When I got inside, though, I was greeted with a pretty dang cute surprise party. Complete with party hats, streamers, balloons, noise blowers and my favorite dessert.

Wasn’t The Hubby clever to tie down the balloons with flowers? I loved this!

Clearly, a lot of fun was had. 🙂

Can you guess who cleaned it up?? 🙂

It was a wonderful and thoughtful way to turn twenty-eight. Being with my three favorite people was pretty awesome.
