DIY Fall Burlap Wreath

September 11, 2012
The weather has definitely changed here in Washington, and cooler weather means the summer decor comes down. No summer decor means empty space. Empty space means NEW space for Fall decor. Fall decor means burlap. Hmmm….How about a burlap wreath!? Exactly what I was thinking!!
I came across a burlap wreath on this blog and decided to take a stab at making my own. So, here’s how mine came out and below is what I did!

Supplies
Wire hanger
2 ten foot rolls of pre-cut burlap (I found these at Michaels)
1/2 yard of light burlap or fabric of choice for bow (there will be leftover!)
Safety pin or hot glue
Bend your wire hanger into a circle. This is the best I could do without getting pliers.
Take your  first roll of burlap and unravel.

Then weave the wire in and out…

And scrunch together!

This is how much one roll will cover…

And I ended up using both rolls for my wreath.

Then, try your best to twist the wire back together on the circle, closing it up. I then cut about a 5″ strip of light burlap from the 1/2 yard that I purchased and made a bow and attached it with a safety pin. I also cut another 3″ strip to hang the wreath from the top of my door.

That’s IT! So simple!!!

I made this wreath for approximately $10. And when my Hubby saw it hanging on our door, he said, “I like it. It’s very…. earthy. It looks recycled.”

I THINK he meant well. Haha.

Happy Tuesday!

P.S.- Michaels always has coupons out, so make sure to either print one and bring with you, or pull one up on your phone and show it to the clerk to get a 40-50% discount on one item. This saved me a few bucks on my burlap bundles. Go to Michaels.com and find the “coupons” tab and they will be located there. Also, if you get your light burlap or other fabric from Joanne’s, right when you enter the store they have a coupon paper right by the door that you can use toward your fabric if not on sale already.
