Baby Boy’s Nursery Preview

January 24, 2012

While I am definitely not strong in the decorating department, I sure do get excited when the time comes to plan the baby nursery!

So, after much debate, I have decided to do the baby boy’s room in a Vintage Sports theme! I am beyond excited about this, as my husband used to play football in college and has some GREAT items I can use.
This picture is from a game my husband played in against his hometown team and is also going to be the inspiration behind the room.

Thanks to the wonderful world of  Pinterest and some searching online, this is where I am currently in my quest for the perfect nursery for our Little Man.

This is Baby Boy’s new bedding and his crib is in Espresso. I admit I didn’t know what “Houndstooth” was when I was first shown this bedding, but now I see it everywhere and I LOVE IT. When the hubby first saw the bedding he wasn’t nearly as excited as I was as he thought I was decorating in a Native American theme. Sheesh.
I ordered these wall letters in Baby Boy’s name to go above the crib and am SO excited for their arrival! I sent the seller pictures of the crib bedding and she is going to do her best to make them coordinate! LOVE! From the looks of these samples, they are going to be PERFECT!
A friend is painting a shelving unit (not shown) in this “Aubusson” colored paint made by Annie Sloan for me. She is also going to paint our white changing table to match Baby Boy’s crib, as painting is a thing I am “not allowed” to do at this point, so she was gracious enough to volunteer to take on the task. We have yet to find a paint for the changing table though.
Aubusson
Perhaps added with “Old White”
I found some of these great crates at an antique store  to use  for shelving on the walls!
Perhaps something like this will go above the changing table for diapers, wipes, powder, etc.  and  can also display some of the vintage decor too!
I was given a few wooden bats and plan to use one of them to make this! Hubby has volunteered to take this project on. Yay!

I think this rug from Pottery Barn Kids will go nicely in the room as well.

A few decor ideas…

Need to find a bunch of old balls and a wide vase, and this would look quite nice!
Found one of these from the ’60s at an Antique store.
An old trophy or two would be pretty neat, too, but from what I have found so far, they’re pretty pricey. 🙁
Vintage wooden letter blocks are a MUST!
The hubby is REAL excited about boxing gloves.
These bookends are pretty fabulous. Need to find.

I also plan on framing some old photos of our family in various sports attire, as well as some of my husband’s old football articles. These items will give it a real personal touch.

This picture has nothing to do with the nursery, but isn’t his outfit TO DIE FOR!? This is exactly the kind of style I adore for little boys.

So there you have it! The vision so far. A good friend of mine is helping me put it all together, as she’s got that “decorator’s touch” and I am SOOOO excited to have it complete! Just one step closer to Baby Boy’s arrival!
