Gwyn’s 5th Birthday Tea Party-Part 1

May 26, 2015

We recently celebrated Gwyneth’s 5th birthday and oh my…It was elegant, magical, and full of all the pretties. A tea party was the theme this year with two special guests joining the girls. I tried incorporating her favorite colors; pink, purple and blue with a floral flair while also using the natural colors and elements of our backyard.

Being five, I felt confident the little girls could handle a little bit of a nicer table setting this year, using real teacups and saucers, though I did get them at a thrift store for $.25-$.50 each, thus not being sad if they were dropped.

My biggest obstacle this year was that the party was outside and I had to bear with the unpredictable weather. Being a type-A personality, this had me a little worried when the forecast showed rain the whole week leading up to the day of her party. So, I wasn’t able to set anything up ahead of time.

The morning of her party was all sunshine, though, so I took my chances and set up outside. And I couldn’t have been more thankful to have someone else there to capture beautiful photos for me as I was setting up until the last minute. If Heidi from Glimpse Photography hadn’t been there taking photos as I finished up, I simply wouldn’t have any. Or at least none of things untouched.

Heidi was able to capture every little detail of the decor, the little guests as they arrived and interacted and the moments I missed as the hostess. And as the hostess, sometimes you can miss a lot making sure things go smoothly so having these photos to look back on really helps fill in the gaps and are something I will cherish forever. Especially because I am just over-the-moon about these photos!

Because Heidi did SUCH a good job capturing it ALL, this post is being split in two with today being all about the food and decor.

The paper printables I received from Designed by Maria just fit the theme so well and I was able to turn the cupcake topper printable into the perfect little tea bag tag for these tea bag cookies.

Gwyneth chose this cup as “the one” she wanted to have for her special day. And once she saw it, there was no changing her mind, which made it just perfect.

Part 2 coming tomorrow!

The vendors for this party truly helped pull it all together and I am beyond grateful for all they have provided!

Photography– Heidi from Glimpse Photography– Being able to actually enjoy the whole party, interact with guests and RELAX during it all is such a treat! And then to receive photos like these from Gwyn’s special day that are just so incredible are so, so special. I am truly beyond thrilled with how these turned out! Check out Heidi’s Facebook page HERE and Instagram HERE for more amazing photos.

Entertainment- Party Enchantments– With a Frozen obsessed five-year-old, Gwyn has held consistent for an entire year that she would like Anna and Elsa to be at her party. Knowing what an amazing job this company does I was confident they would deliver an unforgettable birthday experience. But, more about that tomorrow!

Birthday banner, food labels, name cards, the paper portion of the tea bags, TEA banner and welcome sign– Maria from Designed by Maria– As soon as I came across the floral tea party birthday printable package on Etsy I knew this was the one. Classy, beautiful and fitting right with the theme, these paper printables were immediately e-mailed and printed at home with ease. AND, Maria even created the custom Happy Birthday banner specifically for this party and I loved it! It just went so well with the rest of the package and was a focal point of the party. Just gorgeous!

White Folding Chairs Event Rents This company has been so wonderful to work for. The communication is consistent, their staff very friendly and products nothing but quality. The white chairs coordinated with the theme of the party extremely well while remaining practical, too. Stackable and transportable, I was able to move these around with ease to and from the site. I will definitely use them again!

Food and goods– Made at home.

  1. What a great idea to have the photos taken for you. I would love that! And maybe then I’d actually be in a few!
