My Top Five Favorite Memories/Experiences from Maui: Part 2

Part 1

FOOD!!!

Another favorite part of our trip was trying new, delicious food. We LOVE to try new things, but eating out for every meal while in Hawaii can get very pricey, so we tried to be smart with when we splurged and when we saved.

When we first arrived on Maui, we hit up the grocery store for meals like breakfast and most lunches. got snacks to tide us over in-between meals, as well as some alcohol to save on those $12 Mai Tai’s.

On one of the first nights in Maui, we met a local girl and her little boy playing at our hotel pool. She was kind enough to e-mail me the best spots, in her opinion, which gave us a great starting point. Below is her list in case you’re going and need some suggestions:

Food:  Hula Grill (seafood), Maui Fish & Pasta, Amigo’s (mexican – Lahaina), Number 1 (super good dive place), Star Noodle, The Gazebo Restaurant (breakfast, long line but amazing), Cast Away’s Cafe (breakfast), Echo (Koki Beach in Hana, burgers are amazing), Bradda’s Hut (amazing BBQ in Hana right after the gas station in town), Primo Pizza (the one in OFFICE Max parking lot, Lahaina), Sansei (sushi), Aloha Mixed Plate (next to Old Lahaina Luau), Lahaina Grill (next to Aloha Mixed Plate), Cool Cats (Lahiana), Sunrise is good for all day breakfast close 4pm or something like that and they have great sandwichs.

My favorite, budget–friendly spot was a place called Milagros in the town of Paia.

It was here that I had the best salad I’ve ever had. Ever. It was a honey-drizzled, macadamia nut salmon salad and I licked the plate.

The Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his ahi sandwich as well, so we both left this restaurant very satisfied.

I sit here and salivate as I reminisce.

My second-favorite spot was a restaurant called Leilani’s in Whaler’s Village. THE BEST FISH TACOS OF MY LIFE. This place has even won an award for their fish tacos, and I would have to agree. They were insanely good.

For dessert, we enjoyed their infamous Hula Pie

During dinner one night, the local girl we met earlier that week sent a sushi roll to our table since her boyfriend worked at the restaurant we were at, Maui Fish and Taco, in Whaler’s Village.  So sweet of her and it was delicious! Great spot, too!

While in Hawaii, The Hubby and I also seemed to enjoy some sort of treat every single day. Usually ice cream doused with toppings.

Yep, we were kindof fat piggies on this trip…. but you don’t get to do this often, so we just went for it. We DID eat healthy breakfasts almost every day, soooooo that evened it out, right?

Ohhh, we did eat one breakfast out on our last day at a restaurant called The Gazebo, which overlooked the ocean and came highly recommended.

Between the two of us, we ordered three meals, sharing the white chocolate macadamia nut pancakes.

Oink.

Food may seem a little silly to be one of my favorite things about our trip, but spending the time with my hubby enjoying meals  and treats together is one of our favorite things to do, no matter where we are.

We are total foodies. 🙂
