In a world where busy schedules and digital distractions often pull us in different directions, family game night offers a refreshing opportunity to come together, laugh, and bond. Whether it’s a classic board game, a fast-paced card challenge, or a quirky new favorite, these moments create memories that last a lifetime. Gather your crew, clear the table, and prepare for an evening filled with friendly competition and heartwarming connection.
1. Bow Blaster
– each person starts with 3-4 bows on their back. The goal is to knock off as many of your opponents’ bows while keeping your own on. The last person with a bow on their back wins.
Tip- I had my family walk in a circle until I said “go” so people couldn’t pre-determine where they were going to start/camp out.
2. Flip Cup Memory
A neutral party hides 5 red and 5 green candies under 15 cups and one person is the red team and the other person the green. (You can do any kind of treat, just make sure you have two different ones.) Each player flips a cup off the edge of a counter/table (like flip cup) and if it lands upside down, then they can peek under one of the 15 cups to see if one of their candies is underneath. If it is, they collect the candy and put the cup back. If it’s their opponents’ candy, they leave it and put the cup back. First person to find all 5 of their candies wins.
Tip- it’s an advantage to take note of the cups your opponent peeks under and remember to come back to those cups if one of your candies is underneath
3. Musical Candy Canes
Played just like musical chairs except with candy canes
Tip- have a few extra in case they break
4. Tic-Tac-Toe Wars
Set up a Tic-Tac-Toe board with painters tape and have four different stacks of solo cups at each corner.
Players continually flip cups from the edge of a counter/table, and when one lands upside down (like flip cup), it may be placed on the board. The goal is to be the first one to make three in a row, but your opponents can place their cups on top of yours, therefore taking some of your cups “away.”
Its a fast-paced game of not only trying to create your own tic-tac-toe, but playing defense against your opponents
As the games are put away and the snacks are cleared, the memories you’ve made together linger long after the night is over. So, set a date, invite everyone to the table, and let the games begin. Your family will thank you for the joy and connection these evenings bring. Happy playing!
