It had been a little while since our family had taken a vacation together. With sports, school, and work schedules, finding the time was just becoming harder and harder. But, we were just feeling like we needed some quality time together without all of the extras going on in our lives and wanted to get away. It really was a no-brainer when we landed on the Coeur d’ Alene Resort as our destination since it’s our absolute favorite staycation getaway in this area. Because it’s only 45 minutes from our house, we are able to meet our obligations at home, while also sneaking away for a mini getaway, too.
Now here’s where we got super smart. We always invite my husband’s parents to spend Easter with us, so this year instead of making sure the house is clean and worrying about what meals to prepare and what Easter events to attend, we decided to take our mini staycation over the Easter holiday so that we could all enjoy a nice, relaxing time away. AND, my husband and I could also get a morning to sleep in since the kiddos would obviously choose the grandparents to spend the night with. WINNING.
Here is the room we stayed in with the gorgeous view overlooking the lake:
And right next door slept the grandparents and the kids, which worked out so well! Each kiddo bunked with a grandparent, and one slept on the little couch. We also had the option of a rollaway bed, but we ended up not needing it!
The kids could not get in their suits fast enough, and the first thing we did was to go straight to the pool. Everyone was in heaven! We played and played and played some more, and it was just the perfect setup for us all. It wasn’t so deep that I was worried about our kids, and the steps leading down to the water made getting in and out very easy for our little ones. Plus, it’s just so dang pretty in there!
When we got back to our room, this adorable little Easter basket was waiting for the kids to enjoy, and boy did they! Staying at the resort over the holidays definitely has its perks and it was these little touches that made our stay so special and will definitely have us coming back.
We then went down to the lobby to check out one of their favorite parts of the entire hotel; the gigantic fish tank! And actually, any time we walked by, we stopped to check these fish out, so we saw them quite often!
And for our big Easter dinner (we decided to have it the night before) we went to one of our all-time favorite restaurants, Beverly’s, which is right inside the hotel. Beverly’s is special to our family because my husband’s side of the family has been going for years and years, and we love the idea of continuing the tradition of taking our little family there, too.
And the food. OH, the food! It not only tastes delicious, but the presentation is just phenomenal. I mean, look at these!
Needless to say, we left with bursting hearts AND bellies.
All of us. 🙂 This little one could not get enough of the steak!
Because the sun was just absolutely picturesque, we decided to take an after-dinner stroll down the world’s longest floating boardwalk. Did you know that?! I didn’t, either! The CDA Resort owns the longest floating boardwalk in the WORLD! That is so cool!
And it. was. stunning!
Introducing, our next Christmas card. Haha! (I’m not kidding…)
After, we went back to the rooms to settle in for the night. We had some fun visiting and playing in the rooms before bed, and then my husband and I went back to our room, and it was perfection! This allowed the Easter Bunny (ahem) to fill the Easter baskets and for us to enjoy a relaxing night in as well.
The next morning we woke up to a super fun surprise at our door! Every kiddo who was part of the Easter stay package received this cute little basket filled with goodies and an invitation to the Easter egg hunt there that day. Again, one of the perks of staying at the CDA Resort over a holiday weekend.
On our way to brunch, we ran into this guy and I think I was just as happy as the kids about it! Getting a picture with the Easter Bunny was one thing we didn’t get a chance to do before Easter this year, and it was about to be my first year ever of not getting this picture! I was giving myself a little grace, though, and accepting the fact that we can’t always do it all, until on the way to breakfast we ran right into him, with no line whatsoever, and I got my picture! One happy mama!
The Sunday brunch at the resort is something special, and an event I enjoy so much that we have gone the past three years on Mother’s Day. There are so many choices and so many made-to-order options that your head may spin a bit, but that just means there is truly something for everyone. And my friends, the first thing I go for every single time is the maple bacon. I swear, I could eat half the pile myself. It is SO GOOD!
My husband’s plate. HA!
While he may go for all the meats when here, it is no secret that my favorites are the sweets. I can’t help it! I have the biggest sweet tooth and my heart starts racing when I see all of these delicious options! And they’re all so dang pretty, too!
I thought about asking for that chocolate bunny. Who gets to take that at the end of the day? I’d like to get on that list….
One of our favorite things to do when at the resort is to bring our scooters and to scoot all around the property, over to the parks, along the beach, through downtown, and back again. Everyone that works at the resort is SO kind and helpful and we are always especially impressed with the Bell Hop and Valet crew who so graciously store our scooters in their back room and bring them out for us whenever we need them, which just makes it all so easy on us.
After we burned off breakfast (actually, probably not even close. The maple bacon!) we went back to the resort for the Easter Egg hunt, which was a favorite for the kiddos. I will hold on to little traditions like this for as long as they’ll let me, as I love watching their little legs scurrying around after the eggs. And, I didn’t have to stuff a single egg! Bliss!
I mean, that face!
We concluded our stay by spending some time on the beach, letting those bright rays warm our bodies, and my gosh, it felt so nice. We come to this beach all summer long and cannot wait for the days ahead where this will become a regular occurrence once again.
As I mentioned above, my husband’s family has been coming to the Coeur d’ Alene Resort for years. In fact, it is so special to us all that my husband’s Grandma brought the whole family to the resort for her 80th birthday, and it was there that we announced the pregnancy of our first baby to her as a birthday surprise. It was all so special and remains that way for us all.
Coming to the resort for a holiday like Easter made things so easy for me, and for that, I could not be more thankful. Everything was just taken care of, and the only thing I had to worry about was showing up on time. No cooking, no cleaning, no planning an egg hunt, no stress, fabulous food, friendly staff, picturesque views… I could go on and on. These are the things that keep us coming back and if you are in the area, or are willing to travel, I can pretty much guarantee a wonderful stay at this resort.
What a smart idea! I would have never thought to do a staycation over the holiday. So much easier then doing a big production at home. Great that the grandparents could take some of the pressure off of you as well. And, that food looks delicious!
What a lovely Easter getaway! Definitely drawing inspiration from this post for next year. May have to consider Idaho!
