Cal’s 2nd Train Themed Birthday Party

April 10, 2014

I warn you, you might experience choo choo overload, here. Or, just a whole lot of Little Man cuteness.  Cal’s 2nd birthday was such a success, and seeing him enjoy every bit of it was just so special. Being the second born, he tends to take backseat to his sister’s activities, so having a day ALL about him themed with something he loves that turned out so well was just perfect.

I will start by saying the best thing I did with this party was have Mica from Mica Sansaver Life Photography come and capture every little detail. The morning of a party is busy enough with finishing the last minute  touches and to not have to worry about getting detailed pictures before guests arrived was priceless. She took ALL the stress away! AND, she was able to capture moments I just would never have been able to do. Like, actually being IN some of them?! We mamas tend to be the ones behind the camera, thus being absent from such events. “We swear, we were there!” we say.

Well, not anymore!

(I threw in a few of the pictures I DID take and it is CLEAR which ones I took… so thankful I had Mica!)

One of the best moments was after he saw the outsude and ran in to give me a ginormous hug. I was actually sandwiched. (Sigh…)

And then he bee-lined for the sweets table.

These were train rice krispie treats, but after I drizzled chocolate on the tops it was hard to tell what was going on there.

The first thing Cal did when he got close enough to the cake was to pick every train car off the top and start to play with them. Who knew I was also making toys?!

Another perk to having Mica at the party was that she came early enough to take pictures of just Cal before there was any commotion so that I could have some for his two-year pictures. I love having professional pictures taken of the kids at each age, and having her there killed two birds with one stone.

Having these pictures to me is priceless. If you are having a party and want the details documented (stress free!) and wonderful memories of your friends and loved ones captured, then I highly recommend giving Mica from Mica Sansaver Life Photography a call. You will not be disappointed. I’m sure not!

  1. That was such a good idea to have a photographer come! I remember being so frantic the morning of a party and forgetting to take pictures all-together until people already arrived and things were half eaten.

    1. It was the BEST thing I think I did for the entire event! No stress and great keepsakes! I highly recommend Mica if you are in the area!

  2. What a fun birthday party!!! I love it 🙂
My little guy use to be totally obsessed with trains, we even bought him stock in CSX, he would have loved this party at 2. He’s now obsessed with all things basketball and Star Wars but he still loves his trains 🙂
Thanks for linking up via Mommy Monday!
    XOXO

  4. Super cute party!!Did you use duct tape to make the tracks outside? Thinking of doing something similar but worry about what it could do to the sidewalk… Thanks!
