Favorite Things Friday- Super Bowl Snacks and Apps

January 24, 2014

*First, I want to thank those of you who shared your kind words, encouragement and experiences in response to the Finding Grace post from yesterday. I was completely taken aback by the response it received and it just confirms that it was the right decision to hit “publish.” So, thank you. Your words have meant a great deal.*
I am not a real Super Bowl fan.
What I mean is, the actual football part of it doesn’t really interest me. What I REALLY enjoy is the fun food, the half-time show and the good company.
I do live in Washington, though, which means I am an obligated Seahawks fan, so that does make it more fun since they’re going to be playing in the big game. Right? They’re in the Super Plate this year?
Right?
Kidding.
Anyway, today I have put together a list of some snacks and apps that either seem easy to put together, are on the healthier side, or are just plain awesome.
Here are some that seem and/or are (from tried experience) easy and quite tasty!
1. Mini Caprese Bites– from Zoom Yummy. I just think everything looks so delish when in mini form! With few ingredients, this one is on my list!

2. Individual 7 Layer Dip Cups – I have made these before for a party and they were super easy and enjoyed by all!

3.  Jalapeno Popper Pinwheels- These look SO yummy and there are only four ingredients! Easy peasy!

4. Buffalo Chicken Dip from Spaceships and Laser Beams- I actually made this for the playoffs last weekend and it turned out great! Throw everything into the crockpot and walk away! Super easy and it was a hit. I substituted Buffalo Sauce for the hot sauce, though, just fyi.

These ones look a little healthier but JUST as tasty!

1.) Chicken Salad Apple Bites- I couldn’t track down the recipe, but it looks pretty straight-forward!

2. Black Bean, Corn and Avocado Salsa– from What’s Gabby Cooking.  I think I could put down a whole bunch of this stuff.

3.) Tiny Brie Bites from Hello Lately. Crackers, brie, fig jam and rosemary?! YUM and EASY?! Check!

And these ones just make me smile.

1. Snack Stadium from Neatorama. Someone, please make this. I want to see pics!

2. Mini grilled cheese, beers and burgers–  Again, the mini thing. Love.

3. Chicken Wing Cupcakes from Cupcake Project- I am just so curious. Curious enough I may have to make these…. hum…

  1. The caprese bites idea is fabulous idea! I love a Caprese Salad but it looks even better in the finger food for parties and get togethers

  2. Oh my gosh. Those chicken wing cupcakes are so intriguing. I have to try them some day. A friend of mine made sun dried tomato chevre cupcakes (well they were more like a muffin) and they were wonderful as an appetizer. I bet they would be similar. You should definitely make them. Besides, you are always making interesting cupcakes for The Bachelor finales so why not make one for the Super Bowl! If you do make them, I would LOVE to hear how they turn out 🙂

  3. Alright, even more motivation to try them out!!! I’ll be sure to post about it if I try it out! 😉 I’m already dying to know who the final 2 bachelor contestants will be so I can start thinking about cupcake ideas!!

  4. Oh my goodness, they all look yummo!! I think I’d love to try the mini caprese bites and the 7 layer cups!! I totally agree and hear ya about not being a huge fan of the football itself, but I love having family over, and I LOVE watching my hubby and boys watch football. Jumping in sync and yelling over a “bad” call, (one of my favorite things to watch)! Thanks for the great food ideas, I’m SO excited to follow your blog☺–♥Angie

    1. Angie-
I think we could be friends! Haha! I too love the people over at the house and all the hoopla that comes with it. Fun times! Please let me know if you try those dip cups out, I have some tips for you if you do! Happy Super Bowl prepping!
