Little Man’s Nursery Projects

March 14, 2012

These are a few finished DIY projects that I, or people that love me, have either made because I couldn’t find what I was envisioning, or because I didn’t want to pay for it!

I purchased wooden crates and an AWESOME old window pane at an antique store with the intention of using them as shelving. I think I spent around $25 for all three, which I felt VERY pleased with compared to the cost of other shelving units I had looked at.

Well, it’s pretty dang hard deciding where such heavy wall decor should go, so the hubby cut out cardboard in the exact measurements, and then I got to fiddle with those on the wall by taping them in various positions before landing on the perfect placement! My husband then hung the real deals. Brilliant!

Those are the crates and window pane on the floor.

Another DIY project was this Chevron Lamp, which I have previously shown. A little tricky, but I am happy with the results! Doing this myself cost me appx. $15 and online I found them for appx. $60! No thank you!
Gwyneth received a very special jewelry box at one of my baby showers held in her honor a few years ago, so my mom made Little Man his own special “man box” to put his own treasures in!
Another project that I HAD to do was this wooden bat coat hanger. I was lucky in that a friend gave me a few wooden bats, so we (meaning my hubby… no fumes for me!) stained this puppy, I bought some hooks from Walmart, and The Hubby drilled them in! Love! He also attached it to the wall so that no screws could be seen from the front. Such a handyman!
I had pinned this picture of a vintage baseball print onto my Pinterest account as inspiration for the room…
Possibly use vintage prints of JD's favorite sport...
…and totally forgot about it until I received these from my mom! She painted them herself!

Since we already had a changing table, I did not want to buy another. The only problem was that it was white and just would not go well in the Little Man’s room. Luckily, I have a friend who is a painting goddess and she turned Gwyneth’s old table into this gorgeous piece!

Before
After

I could not find the “right” clock for Little Man’s room, so what did my mom do? She MADE me this one! Who makes clocks?? You rock, Mom!

I REALLY wanted a growth chart that we could record the kiddos’ height on and transport it from house to house when we move, so I made this!

Everything looks just how I envisioned in the room and I am so excited (and relieved) that it is finished! I will post pictures of the entire room tomorrow, so check back if you’re interested!
Happy Wednesday!
