Ten years together, seven years married. The Husband and I just celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary in Seattle and we had the BEST time!
This trip was planned months in advance (by my husband!) and since I had to have enough milk to leave for the baby, that meant waking up at 2:30 am every morning for a while to pump extra bottles. So this trip was MUCH anticipated!
My wonderful in-laws watched the kiddos for us while gone, and our crew was SO excited to spend some quality time with them.
And then… we were free!
One of my favorite parts about any trip with my husband is the travel time. Sometimes we enjoy quiet time to talk, uninterrupted, and other times we jam out. We’ve got a few choreographed songs under our belts for when the time is right thanks to trips like these. 🙂
Once in Seattle, we met up with some friends for dinner and then decided to pick up some dessert to take back to the hotel.
The next day we set out to explore the city and right down the street from our hotel was a restaurant called Lola… and ohmyheavens. It was delicious! So delicious, that we even went back for dinner that night!
But before doing that, we went exploring (shopping) in downtown Seattle. And I truly have so much to be grateful for when it comes to the qualities of my husband, as one of those qualities is that we truly enjoy shopping with one another. He is SUCH a good sport and will even go on missions to find certain items I may be looking for.
For example, I saw a super cute dress on a girl while out in another store and I asked her where she got it. She was very friendly and told me it was from Nordstrom. When we ended up at Nordstrom later that day, my husband actually spotted the same girl in the dress and had her take him to where it was. He also noticed a (rather large) hole in one of my favorite cardigans and asked why I still had the thing. I explained that it was a staple and went with everything (plus, it was at the elbow and not noticeable with the sleeves rolled up), so he searched high and low until he found an almost exact replica. It’s those little things that just make me swoon!
Dinner back at Lola that night. I can’t even describe how good this was!
The next day was our actual anniversary, and we started out by exploring Pike Place Market. On the walk there, I stumbled upon a 2016 penny and got all sentimental. If you didn’t know, the seventh anniversary is represented by copper. And for our anniversary, I made my husband this little picture showcasing the important events in our lives and found corresponding pennies (copper) of the years they took place. What I didn’t come across in all of the pennies I sifted through, though, was a 2016 penny- one representing our seventh anniversary. So when I came across this one, all shiny and bright in the middle of the street, I definitely picked it up for good luck. Because I am mushy like that.
And then, to the market we went. We are always in awe of the gorgeous meats and produce!
And these just made me giggle!
Remember my sentiment with copper this trip? Well, as a gift to my husband, I also read that the modern gift for the seventh anniversary is a desk set. Since I couldn’t really imagine getting my husband a desk set, I did gift him my services of helping him organize/decorate his office space so that it would be functional for him. So can you imagine my delight when I came across this copper filing cabinet?! It was meant to be!
After perusing around the market we took a trip on The Big Wheel!
I would say this was one of the highlights of the trip as it was just so gorgeous up there. A sweet apple with my sweet man!
We then went back to the hotel, got cleaned up, and went to dinner where we had an amazing meal and experience.
But, the absolute biggest highlight of the trip was seeing Adele in concert!
She is SO good (which I am sure you all know and agree) and is absolutely hilarious!
To end the night we made our way back to our new favorite restaurant, Lola, and had their infamous donuts. And oh my, they just MELTED in our mouths.
Before heading home the next day we went back down to the market to pick up a couple of thank-you gifts for my in-laws and some fresh fish and then we enjoyed the nice drive back home to our babies. (Side note-when asked what our kids’ favorite thing they did while at Grammie and Poppie’s they replied with, “Spitting in the creek!” Way to go, Gram and Pop! Making memories!)
Having this alone time with my husband for our anniversary was just incredible. We found ourselves reminiscing about the night we met… and he never told me this before, but he said he thinks that night was his first and only experience of love at first sight; something he previously didn’t think was a real thing.
I mean, my heart just about burst!
Thanks for stopping by!
Awe. Your anniversary and the trip sounded amazing! You are such a cute couple. All the food looked delicious, and I’m super jealous of the concert…and the alone grown-up time.
Just having the time to be with my husband alone was so wonderful!
Your husband sounds wonderful! You are both very lucky. And to see Adele! OMG I am jealous.

Wow, sounds like you guys had an amazing trip! Happy anniversary! 🙂 And I’m so jealous of all the scrumptious treats you had and getting to see Adele, swoooon. 🙂
It was such a wonderful time! And man, that Adele is GOOD!
Aww! Glad you guys had so much fun celebrating 7 years!! I love your gift with the pennies, that’s really clever! I haven’t even looked up what the 6th year anniversary gift is, that’s what we’re hitting this year…
It’s a fun little tradition! Give it a try!
