I saw\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/vosgesparis.blogspot.ca\/2012\/11\/diy-christmas-star-for-your-home.html\">this<\/a>\u00a0picture on Pinterest and decided it looked easy enough to make, so I gave it a go.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-IbF6or-0S48\/UKq60AVZNUI\/AAAAAAAAGCk\/L5JozwzoFb8\/s320\/IMG_0372.JPG\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Supplies:<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Two 1\/2 inch x 1\/2 inch garden stakes<\/div>\n<div>Wood stain<\/div>\n<div>Baling wire<\/div>\n<div>Wire cutters<\/div>\n<div>Table or hand saw<\/div>\n<div>Level (or a really precise eye!)<\/div>\n<div>Drill<\/div>\n<div>Needle nose pliers (to twist wire together-not necessary)<\/div>\n<div>Twine or material of choice to tie ends together<\/div>\n<div>Christmas lights- one box of 50 lights works well<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Directions:<\/span><\/div>\n<div>First, I stained two 1\/2 inch x 1\/2 inch garden stakes found at our local (Ace) hardware store.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-zNKqJqFxGcY\/UKq3SWBD0sI\/AAAAAAAAGAs\/2E78J6NFqqY\/s1600\/IMG_0335.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-zNKqJqFxGcY\/UKq3SWBD0sI\/AAAAAAAAGAs\/2E78J6NFqqY\/s320\/IMG_0335.JPG\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-BCGdzjKhmAU\/UKq3jQe13iI\/AAAAAAAAGA0\/bjLwJYOZuUg\/s1600\/IMG_0337.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-BCGdzjKhmAU\/UKq3jQe13iI\/AAAAAAAAGA0\/bjLwJYOZuUg\/s320\/IMG_0337.JPG\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-bVaD1zX5TEc\/UKq3zcy55-I\/AAAAAAAAGA8\/lu195iItLGM\/s1600\/IMG_0338.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-bVaD1zX5TEc\/UKq3zcy55-I\/AAAAAAAAGA8\/lu195iItLGM\/s320\/IMG_0338.JPG\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I also picked up some baling wire to attach the ends together.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-Aq9VtWIVvtc\/UKq3_-aBkmI\/AAAAAAAAGBE\/K8fwLvgtruo\/s1600\/IMG_0339.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-Aq9VtWIVvtc\/UKq3_-aBkmI\/AAAAAAAAGBE\/K8fwLvgtruo\/s320\/IMG_0339.JPG\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>My husband cut the two pieces of wood into thirds so that I had my five equal pieces, with one leftover.<br \/>\nWe then placed the pieces in a star shape&#8230;<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-3gi8RdHIhqo\/UKq4MDzN1SI\/AAAAAAAAGBM\/48grBIGRajI\/s1600\/IMG_0342.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-3gi8RdHIhqo\/UKq4MDzN1SI\/AAAAAAAAGBM\/48grBIGRajI\/s320\/IMG_0342.JPG\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>and then made sure it was level.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-YCKzS1CQSmE\/UKq4aiHiTII\/AAAAAAAAGBU\/f7n9Sb6S2J0\/s1600\/IMG_0349.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-YCKzS1CQSmE\/UKq4aiHiTII\/AAAAAAAAGBU\/f7n9Sb6S2J0\/s320\/IMG_0349.JPG\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>We then drilled holes into the five points and inserted the baling wire and twisted the ends together, trimming off the extra.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-bOu6-Gj9TvY\/UKq4pscXv5I\/AAAAAAAAGBc\/4ju57VaMIo4\/s1600\/IMG_0351.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-bOu6-Gj9TvY\/UKq4pscXv5I\/AAAAAAAAGBc\/4ju57VaMIo4\/s320\/IMG_0351.JPG\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-HZGh5Gpj5po\/UKq55C4EnQI\/AAAAAAAAGCE\/Y3JuWKPWuzM\/s320\/IMG_0358.JPG\" \/><\/div>\n<div>This allowed the star to be\u00a0movable\u00a0to ensure perfect symmetry.
