(A few years ago)<\/strong><\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-x2cNjw8z1Og\/UOCE0iRi_gI\/AAAAAAAAHeM\/SvPVAfPp9b0\/s1600\/DSCN2244.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-x2cNjw8z1Og\/UOCE0iRi_gI\/AAAAAAAAHeM\/SvPVAfPp9b0\/s320\/DSCN2244.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"403\" height=\"302\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>One of my family\u2019s Christmas traditions is the opening of \u201cChristmas Poppers.\u201d \u00a0 Whoever gets the bigger end of the paper tube, wins the prize.\u00a0 Contents usually include a paper crown, a silly joke and a little gift of some sort.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Since my kids have grown up, I usually buy our Christmas poppers at Costco (the prizes are a little nicer!).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But when I put our poppers in the basket to set by our Christmas tree, I realized that now that my granddaughter, Gwyneth is 2 \u00bd, she would also love this and would want to be a part of the fun.\u00a0 After looking in stores and on the\u00a0Internet\u00a0with no luck,\u00a0\u00a0I decided to make my own.<\/div>\n<div>I purchased a few small\u00a0 \u201ctoddler-friendly\u201d trinkets and saved empty paper towel tubes.\u00a0 I cut the paper towel tubes into thirds.\u00a0 Then I took each third, and cut it in half again, and put a little toy inside each set (see picture below).\u00a0 The reason I cut the thirds in half, was so that when the wrapping paper ends were pulled, the toy would pop out of the paper tube easier.<\/div>\n<div>Then I wrapped the tubes in\u00a0tissue\u00a0paper\u00a0and tied the ends with ribbon.\u00a0 Too easy. \u00a0Of course, there won\u2019t be the \u201cpop,\u201d but she won\u2019t notice, and will just enjoy being a part of the fun.\u00a0 I did a quick test to see if it would work by pulling on each end of the tissue paper, and they worked like a charm!<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-sqpA7O88Vo0\/UOCE1nVmeuI\/AAAAAAAAHeU\/cDPQQ2XdXaY\/s1600\/DSCN2245.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-sqpA7O88Vo0\/UOCE1nVmeuI\/AAAAAAAAHeU\/cDPQQ2XdXaY\/s320\/DSCN2245.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"379\" height=\"284\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-abGxXH5j3Ic\/UOCEzeO-4fI\/AAAAAAAAHeE\/0pFrWqFaU4Q\/s1600\/DSCN2246.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-abGxXH5j3Ic\/UOCEzeO-4fI\/AAAAAAAAHeE\/0pFrWqFaU4Q\/s320\/DSCN2246.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"393\" height=\"295\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Update!<\/div>\n<div>Gwyneth absolutely LOVED these! They were easy to pull, she was very excited to ask various family members to join her in this activity and we all enjoyed the prizes in the end, too.
